About Dan Stein...
I took my initial mediation training with Mary Forst at the Confluence Mediation Center in Portland, OR, and have taken additional trainings from Jim Melamed and Ted Lewis. I have mediated at Lane County Small Claims Court, Community Mediation Service, and Family Mediation Service, all in Eugene.
For many years I have studied counseling psychology and communications theory. My personal style is gentle, and respectful with strong active listening skills. My approach can be directive when necessary, but is always client focussed. You, the client, make all the decisions. I am there to support you in the process of building agreements. Even though emotions can run high in mediation, my goal is to to provide a "safety net" for the process and to keep discussions productive. Mediation achieves results in a very high percentage of cases and is surprisingly satisfying.
Recently, I have started mediating from a new, comfortable office in a residential neighborhood in west Eugene. I invite you to call, email, or come visit me if you would like to know more about mediation and how I practice it.
